2011 Distribution of Grants

Jamie’s Smiles’ mission is to supply supplemental funding to outstanding programs that benefit children with special needs, through grants and other financial means. As a result, we are pleased to announce that Jamie’s Smiles has released two $1,000 grants to help special needs children.

On October 17 2011, the Macomb Infant Preschool Program (MIPP) and Glen H. Peters School, serving a combined total of about 1,000 students with special needs ages 3-26 in Macomb County, each received a $1,000 grant from Jamie’s Smiles.  These programs intend to purchase a positioning chair/seat, feeding device for therapeutic feeding, a pediatric functional collection for stretching designed to enhance motor skills, as well as communication and motor skill growth teaching devices.

2010 Distribution of Grants

On November 1, 2010, the Macomb Infant Preschool Program (MIPP), serving over 800 children in Macomb County, and Glen H. Peters School, which serves 300 special needs students ages 3-26 in Macomb County, each received a $1,000 grant.  The programs intend to purchase a digital wheelchair, communications device and accessories, a net swing, loaner toys, feeder items, specialized motor skill development chairs and books.

2009 Distribution of Grants

The first grant was released to Glen H. Peters School.  This school serves 300 special needs students ages 3-26 in Macomb County.  They are planning on purchasing sensory and gravitational assistance equipment as well as assistive communication technology without grant.

The second grant was given to the Macomb Infant Preschool Program (MIPP) which serves 650-700 students in Macomb County with special needs every year.  They have purchased a jungle gym for the development of motor skills, improvement of balance and sensory processing.
